We were playing NL Hold'em and the chip count was about even but was flip flopping with each hand. I was down in the chip count by 14 and i got dealt pocket aces. I was in the small blind so I called the big blind and waited for the flop. Since we were playing all chips are equal value, the total pot was 32 chips and each of us having around 160 chips of our own. The flop came out 4d,4h,and Js. I went all in thinking I had the highest pair and that i could buy the pot and take back the chip lead. He called and had a 4 and a jack in his hand. I lost. Do you think I played it right?

I would semi-agree with this play. Although most people on this site would tell you to push with your aces, in heads up play they are extremely powerful and win 80% of the time. Why push with odds like that? Instead, hope he hits top pair and suck all the money you can out of him.

With your play, however, you should have raised. If you got re-raised, be worried about trips. Going all-in from the start is very risky in this situation.

I would say you did ok. Heads up, a pair of aces is often a call to go all or nothing - on this occasion if he called you, you would have been out of there, but premium starting hands like that are what you are looking for heads up.

My only fault is that you didn't play a sure game - you called. Raise or fold, calling is bad news heads up.
